Death metal band Amon Amarth spent much of 2019 touring and recording new material for their tenth album. With some of their songs awaiting an album release date in 2020, they embarked on a concert tour to promote it. There was even an Amon Amarth B-Day Celebration when the album released. It was their first show with new guitarist Jex Saipa in over ten years.[7] But when it was over, Jex died.[8]
John Smurf has been having serious health issues these past few months. He was rarely seen in public due to health issues that have prevented him from exercising or eating normal food. His business partner, Arlene, seemed to take care of him, sometimes taking care of him herself at her home. However, one day it was revealed that her son, Magnus, had been living with them all these years as a ward of the court after his father had left when he was a child. With Smurf refusing to see a doctor and believing he was faking his illness, it was Arlene's last straw. She accused him of being abusive by leaving her, and told him she would leave him if he didn't get see a doctor. It did not help when his shouting seemed to bring their son back to life.[11]
Channel 9 had continued recording the show for decades, but starting with season 5, cameras would be added behind the hosts' desks, leading to drastic changes to the layout and design of set, the hosts, and new ways how a show is presented. By this point, Marcus and Emily were in a mismatched relationship. Marcus appeared to be more interested in sex works while Emily was more interested in collecting and being with objects.
