Devices with Thunderbolt 3 ports were available for pre-order on the Apple Store from the first day of shipping availability, and began shipping on December 10, 2015, with the Surface Book on December 12, 2015. Dell also shipped a prototype of its Yoga C940 laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 port in late November. Intel USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports (based on the Intel 22 nm process) started shipping to manufacturers in July 2016, and based on this process will go into mass production in 2017.
NEC Corporation introduced its PCI Express Multi-Stream Transport (MST) 2.0 (a.k.a. PCI Express Gen 3.0) motherboard and graphic card at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014. The product is built with the 25 nm process and is licensed to enable users to connect multiple compatible 3D graphics devices to a single PCI Express < 3.0 header. The DIGI+ graphics card supports up to six single-Link DVI connectors with DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4a terminals as well as LVDS and PEG terminals to allow two graphics cards to connect to a motherboard with a single motherboard to retrieve multiple display signals. The DIGI+ adapter output feature allows users to connect a GPU via 3 Gbps LAN and PCIE Gen3.0 MST or LPCIE Gen3.0 MST (as well as CPU-PCIE Gen3.0 MST) to a DIGI+ port to retrieve multiple PCIe Gen3 LPC (and MST) memory interfaces to input a maximum of 48 Gbps of PCIe Gen3 LPC (and MST) signals to the GPU. The adapter also supports eight lane PCI Express 3.0 bandwidth that retrieves up to 90 GB/s of bandwidth worldwide.
