I have tested this drive for over 1 month and the only problem I have had is that when running it on my PC, I will occasionally lose connection to the drive. This usually means that I will have to unplug the usb for the drive. Unfortunately, I cannot find any information about how to determine why this is happening. I would like to know how to fix it so it will never lose connection again. It is also very annoying. Any information on how to fix this would be great!
UPDATE: Bought a second unit and have been using it for 3 months now. No problems at all. Still use the USB power pack to ensure the drive is always powered. (not tested with multiple loaders, but it seems to work) Will be posting updates as I try different loaders and different formats of discs. Good luck! I highly recommend this drive and enclosure. I love my Wii and this would be a great way to save my games!
After several hours of tinkering with the firmware and the usb bus power going to the drive, I finally got it to work. The only way I have gotten this to work is to ensure the drive has power. I am doing this by using a small power pack with usb and a mini USB cable. This should ensure that the power supply is always there, even when the usb port is not. It seems that if the drive and the power supply are both connected, it will power on the drive, and then if the usb port is unplugged, it will power off the drive. But, if it is not plugged in, it will not power on. This seems to be the only way I have been able to get it to work. I have tested this with multiple loaders and it seems to work with all of them, but I have not tested with all disc formats. Please post if you have had success!
Added info by a different user Aug 2012: All games show up in usb gx but I can only ever get 4 games to work, in Wii flow I can only ever see 4 games, even if there are supposed to be 10 games on it, same thing in cfg Usb loader.....

One of the drawbacks to this approach was that we needed to recompile every time we made even a small change to the code. This slowed everything else we were doing down and because we couldn't always have someone waiting for the application to finish building. 827ec27edc
